Between Rough & Refined
My work exists in the tension between rough and refined, raw and polished.
Surfaces shift between polished areas and more “imperfect” zones-burned, broken, or textured-creating a dialogue that holds the work together.
Much of my inspiration comes from natural textures, especially those found in the desert and open landscapes, where time and material leave visible traces.
I approach each piece as an open process, allowing the material to guide me rather than working toward a predetermined outcome. I’m interested in the unexpected moments that emerge through making, when a mark, a fracture, or a change in texture begins to shape the direction of the work.
For me, the process is as important as the final form, leaving room for intuition, experimentation, and the unexpected.
